Course Description: This practical 2-day course provides attendees with the opportunity to become familiar with ultrasound and its incorporation into clinical practice through hands-on sessions complemented by practical lectures and case studies. This course covers basic ultrasound physics, knobology, scanning techniques, image optimization and acquisition, an introduction to FNA techniques, point-of-care ultrasound, and fundamental abdominal ultrasound. Hands on scanning will be focused on reinforcing didactic content along with recognizing normal tissue and the concept of edge-to-edge evaluation of abdominal organs. Objectives: Attendees will leave with the knowledge to: Didactic Understand core principles and techniques of abdominal ultrasonography. Compare and contrast echogenicity, echotexture & explain their relevance to image formation. Recognize what, when, and why of equipment controls and their correlation to “optimizing” an ultrasound image. Identify normal organ structure and techniques essential to locating and assessing them completely. Assess and document the “Big 5” organs through proper technique. Incorporate ultrasound into clinical practice through appropriate case recognition. Review core concepts, indications, and interpretation of POCUS Hands on Scanning Develop skills and techniques for proper identification and evaluation of the “Big 5” (Liver, Kidneys, Spleen, Urinary Bladder). Acquire skills to begin recognizing optimal image quality. Practice image acquisition and scanning techniques for POCUS examinations Pre-Course Materials: Enhance your learning experience by watching two online videos on physics and artifacts before attending the course. These resources provide useful insights to help you better understand the live sessions. Access will be provided upon course acceptance. (Note: Pre-course materials do not include CE credits.)
